New Desktop...what the HECK?
Dell - Windows 11 - 1TB optical - 64 ram - i7 12700K I don't even know how to explain the issue - short vid of problem linked below. Basically, when I click on a folder (music in this case) the list of songs appear....and then they one by one disappear until all are gone then they reappear and are able to be clicked on. This takes about 20 seconds for 30 files - should only take a split second!!! Imagine my shock and horror given this unit is only days old (meaning I haven't loaded the drive with slow down garbage yet) and probably the fastest processor in the world (that's what I told the wife to justify the purchase - please don't bust my bubble). Yes, I do have free dell help but I'm trying to avoid the long phone time. Plus deep down I know it has to be something simple. Head hung in shame, computers are not part of my wheelhouse. What tweak to do I need to make or did I just goof really bad and should of bagged a Lenovo? Dropbox - IMG_1036.MOV - Simplify your life :bigbow: |
I have not seen that issue. The first thing I would try is to move the folder to the D drive. Also, make sure your Windows software has been updated. Good luck.
|
I've also never seen this behavior. I would suggest to first make sure windows is totally up to date by running windows update. Have you installed any software? Uninstall it and see. Finally, do a fresh install of windows.

You would have been better off with an Apple iMac or Mac Book with the new M1 processor or if you wait a week or so the new M2 processors may be released. I worked in the Windoze world as an IT specialist. When I retired the Windoze computers were also retired I switched to Macs and have never looked back. Well I have to shake my head on the continual headaches Windoze machines give to their users.
Windows mis-spelling is intentional. |
Around Dec 2021 / Jan 2022 there were several articles about slow SSD performance and a Windows 11 KB5007262 update. You might want to look at some of those to see if that update is a possible solution.

Desktop and Microsoft about as slow as turtle crossing road. Now add internet service that claims to be fast when in reality you get maybe half speed you’re paying you have turtle race at best. |

Fixed
Bingo - I believe it's resolved. I'd been "sleeping" the computer repeatedly over several days. I turned off....then on again and no more problem. Not sure if sleeping it had anything to do with the fix...but I'm back to believing I have the worlds fastest desktop.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to ping in. I enjoy this forum cause one is never alone when problems pop up - the support is wonderful! |
NOT FIXED - still looking for any suggestions...

Very Fixed !
Got thru to Dell support - they cleaned it up. For those in the know it was an "indexing" issue. Greek to me.
Be well... |
