Don't know what you mean by lack of product. I've had no emails from them and only one mailed advertisement. They had everything last time they were here.

The wait was long; it would be nice if you could pre-order and have a separate line provided for pick-up. I may bring a bag chair this time!

Backtracking the links to the corporate home page and their contact link indicate they are from Michigan.

They are a local brand to Michigan, which I was always told had the highest standards in the country for processed meats. So generally hot dogs and other processed meets from Michigan are better than the national brands and Koegels were the best in Michigan. They were sold mostly in the southern half of the lower peninsula of Michigan and into northern Ohio.

Koegels TV ads used to show folks who had moved out of Michigan who always had to buy Koegels whenever they went home to visit. I thought the ads were stupid as, after all, they are just hot dogs. When I moved from Michigan to North Carolina 25 years ago, my Michigan-born wife and I were amazed how awful the hot dogs from every other vendor (and we tried them all) were. We even mail-ordered Koegels hot dogs a few times, paying more for shipping than for the product. Then we got mail indicated that they were bringing a truckload of product down from Michigan to our area for a 1-day sale at a local hotel. We were thrilled and always bought several packages of hot dogs (which we eat about once a month) every time they came through. Then we moved to The Villages 5 years ago and were delighted to find that they came here. We've turned on several of our neighbors to them and have been told by at least two real hot dog connoisseurs among them that they were the best hot dogs they'd ever eaten anywhere in the world. And we just thought we liked them because we grew up eating them and they are a taste of home! We've taken to buying them for the neighbors now as well as ourselves and are glad they are back as they didn't make it last fall (they normally come twice a year).

Grew up 45 minutes away from factory, so very familiar. Like all businesses, Product line has been reduced due to lack of certain products, and staff.
We have been getting emails for years, and probably receive more since we were locals.

Glad we don’t have to just wait for the travel truck to come to Florida. Up north just order online or walk in any grocery. Some products we buy up north, don’t make the traveling truck.

They had to cancel some travel sites due to lack of product, since 2020, with some products still not available.

We still pack the Yeti with Koegels, National, and Leo’s for every return, to TV. We miss coney while in TV, so we just bring it down. Half gets dropped off at our kid’s houses on our trip down. When we buy at the Truck here, they alway ask what part of Michigan we’re you from, by the product we buy.

Nothing better than a “coney dog” from Michigan

banjobob 03-10-2022 06:44 AM

What is HALAl needed now?

Joe C. 03-10-2022 08:46 AM

Halal is the Muslim equivalent of Kosher.

They have a huge warehouse just down the street from Bishop Airport, in Flint, Michigan.

I grew up in Flint and not only are the Koegel products better than anywhere else, the Flint Coney Island hot dogs with the "Flint Coney Island Sauce" is unique to anywhere else in the country. In most places, when you get a coney island hot dog, it is usually a hot dog with chilly poured on it. The "Flint Coney" is totally different. The coney sauce is actually a mixture of chopped meat and spices. It is then topped with mustard and onions. When you go into a restaurant in the Flint area and order a Coney Island, you have to ask for either a "Flint Coney" (with the chopped meat sauce) or a "Detroit Coney" (with the chilly poured on it).
