Daylight Savings time!

Well, for me at least there is GOOD news!

The Senate has passed legislation making DST permanent in 2023! Next up the House has to pass it, then the President signs it and we can all stop suffering ...

At least that is my so humble opinion.

No suffering to me. I could care less either way now that I don’t have go to work or have kids in school. Can’t please everybody…..

Like to go walking after dinner so prefer daylight savings

This is a step in the right direction, but let’s move the clocks back in November and just leave them there. Everything will be great with “year round dst” until a couple of kids are killed at the bus stops in January.

Being an evening, and not an early morning person, would be absolutely thrilled if daylight savings becomes year round. Absolutely hate it up north mid December when it’s dark out at 4:20 in the afternoon. In my opinion, the extra hour of A.M. light, while I am sleeping, is a waste of daylight. I have read that studies show year round daylight savings would also result in energy savings and be a net positive for the planet. Bring it on!

Where I grew up, even when the time changed, we still caught the bus in the dark from some point in November to some point in Feb. We survived.

You are right, I found this:

"Congress had voted on December 14, 1973, to put the US on daylight saving time for two years. President Nixon signed the bill the next day. The US had gone to permanent daylight saving time before, during World War II. Then, too, the measure was enacted to save fuel. "

Apparently everyone wanted it, and then hated it.

Great news! I won't hold my breath on the House, but at least it's a glimmer of hope! Go! Go! Go!

If they do make the change, I wonder what the new memory hook will be for replacing the batteries in the smoke detectors....

asking for a friend

Great News! Now maybe people will stop asking me for help changing the time on their golf cart Ex-Ray device!

I don't really care either way, Standard Time or DST, or do like Newfoundland and split the difference, just stop the clock changing madness.
