If you buy it at Ace Hardware, they will problem it before you walk out the door.

You don’t need a lock smith.
Try this
How to Program a Key Fob in 5 Simple Steps (Car Key Guide) - Locksmith PHILLY
Or do INTERNET SEARCH for your specific vehicle on how to program

We lost our car for a few weeks ago and found that Toyota wanted $220 to program it so we found someone who had a locksmith shop off 441 in Apopka called Abra-key-dabra who did it for $90. We saved a lot!

I looked online how to reprogram car fobs and it didn't work. Of course I tried new batteries and still nothing. I went to dealership they tried to charge me $50 but they hadn't fixed it!! Always test before you leave. It ended up being the mechanism inside the doors that failed. $300 fix was not worth it for me, so manual key unlocking from now on.

Search on YouTube for instructions. You can do it for free. Easy.

KeylessJoe.com. I have bought and programmed 2 key fobs from them. Very easy.

Related question, we have an overhead screen door for our garage that we very much like except for the very cheap, fragile, and non-weather resistant remotes that come with the system. It’s not a typical garage door opener, it’s the type of opener that is used for awnings, curtains, screens, and other similar light applications. The remotes are designed for indoor use and are not suitable to keep in our golf carts. I contacted the installer of our system (Cool Breeze) and was quoted $65 a piece for key chain remotes programmed to our opener, which seems very expensive and are not the type of openers we are looking for. The system comes with no instructions on how to program alternative remotes to communicate with the opener. Has anyone found a way to program a garage door type remote to one of these systems, and if so could you please share how this can be done. Thanks : )

I use a silicon pouch designed for cell phone/ tablet 100% sealed waterproof or in a pinch a ziploc storage bag
