Need microwave part, ?R U remodeling
1 Attachment(s)
I hope to find someone who is getting a new microwave and replacing the GE 1800 beige model that would now be 16 years old. They no longer make the part I need which is the grille above the unit that acts as part of the vent. The model number is JVM1850CH05. If you have this unit/grille I would be happy to pay for it. See photo below

If the existing grill is cracked or broken, i have been very good at repairing these types of items. Let me know.

I have that unit, which we are replacing. Your post says beige but I think mine is white. But with the gunk buildup, it looks beige! :icon_wink:

@Blueash I had the same problem with ours (sorry, long gone) before it died. The way I temp fixed it was to attach a small piece of thin sheetmetal to the broken tabs (I BROKE 'EM REMOVING IT!) with superglue and duct tape and it held for a while until it thankfully died. Bought a new stainless LG from Worst Buy for $99 (open box special during a sale) and popped it into the same space. |

Looks like the unit I have in my home, circa 2004. My latch on the door quit working and the door won't stay closed. Anyone know if this is repairable?

I have the same model, but I am hoping/wishing it would die so I can justify buying a new replacement. The door handle broke but I glued it and it is holding. It still works so it stays for now. I know what you mean regarding the vent grill. Mine has a few small cracks also, but it is still holding together. I've replaced just about all my appliances, except the microwave. The newer models are lighter and not that expensive. Last time there was a sale at Lowes, I should have purchased because it was cheaper than repairing this one in most cases. Youtube has been great as far as repairing microwaves is concerned. But, plastic does seem to weaken and break over time.

........Also, Ace used (?) to sell a clear 2 part epoxy that might work - maybe, not as strong as J+B. ......If all that fails........you could haunt thrift stores until that model rolls in. or check their website. Good luck! |

If you can swing it financially, replace the microware.
The new ones might not last as long, but they are a lot faster we found out. |
