there is alot of very unaware drivers and many who don't understand the logic of if you car skids off the highway at X spot, yours won't be the only one so get out and get far away.

And if you want to stop the chain event, you go back up the highway to try to get people to stop before they are in trouble.

The speed limit in TV isn't at highway speeds and no snow, but yes, good video on what does/can happen out there.

stupid drivers are everywhere, they just do different stupid things depending upon where they are.

Judging the speed those vehicles were traveling in the video, they were far exceeding a prudent speed for the road and weather conditions.

Yes, and i bet they were afraid to slow down as well, given the slippery conditions!

Best to always look at the weather along the route, including the National storm prediction center, and any local weather during winter. . . or during tornado season in the south. . .

Actually, there was no warning that there were whiteout conditions ahead. Both the road and weather were clear seconds before. Unfortunately, the death count currently stands at 3 with an expected rise. I moved from that area 30 years ago, but even back then that stretch of highway was problematic.

We moved to Florida 8 years ago and I do not miss the snow one bit. Thank you for the reminder of that!

We saw it a lot on the Minneapolis - St. Paul freeway system, and it was ALWAYS the worst on the days of the first significant snowfalls. I-35 goes right through the Twin Cities but is a main migrant worker route from where it enters Minnesota at Albert Lea up through the middle of the state, and a lot of those workers have no idea how to drive in snowy or icy conditions, and even long-term Minnesotans seem to get stupid over the summer.

I would only take that road in early fall or late spring when driving to or from the villages. My father in law was rear ended a few years ago in March by a cement truck in dense fog on that same stretch of road
