How long does it take to build a golf course in The Villages

The plans show that a lot of golf courses are supposed to be built south of the Turnpike.

As far as I can tell, they have not started building them. For those of you who have been here for several years, how long does it take from starting to build a course to opening day? Same question for Executive and Championship courses. Thanks.

Watch GoldWingNut's videos. He shows where they have already started building courses...

My guess would be 18-24 months, from start to finish...

No idea how long it takes in other places but 18-24 months seems about right.

They do manage to build an entire village in much less time.

1) it's a lot more complicated to build...

a golf course than a house. also houses sell much faster making the money invested paid back and profitable. it take years for a golf course to pay for itself.

apples and oranges

But don’t they get about $150,000 or more per house for a golf course view? I would think they would want to build the courses as fast as they can so that they can collect the money!

Depending on what your "view" is, you can expect golfers standing around and talking, stinky gas golf carts driving by your lanai, or foul language on the putting green. And the mower coming by at 7am in the morning. Some "golf views" are better than others.:icon_wink:

If you think the language is foul on a green, you should try a t box. A missed put only costs one stroke, a drive out of bounds means you’re hitting 3 off the T. That’s as legitimate a reason for some good old fashioned foul language as there is : )

If it takes 18 to 24 months, and it seems like something happened that shut down and slowed down construction everywhere in the world for the past two years.

I can't recall what it was, but maybe that has something to do with it.

Some have been built, how many do you have so far? At least more are coming.

There is always Space Mountain in Disney World - while you wait :)

You left out golfers peeing in your bushes by your house.
