Question About Stones
 

We’re new and getting landscaping quotes. Two are suggesting removing the stones, replacing weed matting and putting new stones down with the planting. Stone removal, disposal and replacement is more than 50% of overall cost. Not sure why I should pay to take them out and dispose of them only to put the same thing back in. Does anyone know why this is necessary? To be clear, the beds are in bad shape. Thanks!

I actually have neighbors that scop up the old stones themselves, wash them and put them back.
