established hedge need water ?

Wondering if established Hedges continue to need the irrigation originally put in by the Villages. Our viburnum hedges are well established , obviously we could cut back or turn off the irrigation and monitor the result , just looking for input from others experience.

thank you

Great question.
Mine is a beast that blocked the current irrigation and consumes the water.

Great question, I’d like to cut back the irrigation run time on our well established podocarpus hedges. The sewer charges north of 466 on irrigation water usage (potable water and irrigation are one in the same) are outrageous. On the other hand, I want our hedges as full as possible because they provide excellent privacy on both sides of our pool/birdcage.

Drive around outside the bubble plants survive with normal rain fall. If hedge shows signs of stress then give them a drink. I have a couple of roses doing fine never watered except by Mother Nature

We also have viburnum. First of all it is a large family group like many other plants.
Mine, put in by the builder are tough as nails for many of us, the plants are in beds.
If, you poke about you will find the bushes, hedges have an extensive root system.
Your bushes may well have sent roots into your neighbors property and or into your lawn.
