Concrete Contractors for Repair Work
 

Anybody have suggestions for small concrete repair work: 1) Fill hole in garage floor hole (~20 inch diameter x 4 inch deep) where plumbing repairs were done. Nice, smooth finish required. 2) Edge of lanai slab where door is, has broken off (~16 inches long x 2 inches wide). Thanks for input.

I am hoping you find a handyman with some concrete background. I have done my own repairs using materials purchased from Lowe's. Basically clean the area, apply a bonding agent to the old concrete (very important), use the bonding agent along with some water to mix the new concrete repair. Now very important, concrete SHRINKS as it cures, so for the garage floor I would make 2 repairs the first would be to about 1/2 inch from the existing floor, and then after this has dried, a final coat to floor level, any shrinkage should be minimal. As for the lanai, I would drill a few holes and insert suitable rod with epoxy into the holes, this will help hold the new to the old concrete. Install a suitable wood mold for the outer edge of the concrete patch, and follow the steps above.

Thanks for all the info, we are considering it as a DIY project, but wanted to consider getting it done by an "experienced" contractor for a likely better outcome & surface finish.

If you are trying to match the garage finish (color and texture) forget about it, it will never happen even with a professional. You can get close, if you are lucky, but blends of concrete mix will vary in color, and you will have no idea of the final smoothing technique that was originally used. I point this out so you do not get upset when the repair is visible. IMHO, I would go DIY.
