Save our springs

Hey Springers! It's not too late! You can still let your voice be heard about the revamping of the Spanish Springs Town Square here:
Save Spanish Springs | from The Villages

Pro or Con - be heard with just a few keystrokes!

don't care. not pro or con....I think about Spanish springs town square about as much as I think of dark matter, or quantum mechanics or string theory.

I absolutely see no problem with apartments in the squares. We ate dinner a number of times upstairs at Katie Belle's and never heard the music from the square. Parking is a non issue 7 apt =14 cars. When Katie Belle's was open they could handle 300 people upstairs and there were not any parking problems. The sky is not falling.

The developers are not going to destroy the square, it will be there longer than most of us will live. This is a non-issue.

Quantum mechanics is fascinating stuff : )

How to save it

I really love people like Elon musk because they put their money where their mouth is. No one is stopping you from going to the morses and offering to buy Spanish springs and keep its decaying structure up and alive. In fact, build a building , and resurrect Katie Bell's!!!!
Everything in life changes. I've lived in the Leesburg area for about 20 years and I know that it was a beautiful gorgeous citizens Bank building on 27/441, it was totally razed to the ground so that a beautiful new large gas station/convenience/carwash could be put in there. Things change you need to get over it. If you don't like it it's really simple sell your house and move to the new section of the villages for the shiny toys that are there

Keeping things the same will not save SS. If Spanish Springs is to be saved, then something needs to change. Either residents can start reaching into their pockets more often, or the property owner can make changes to the business model. The first option is not going to happen, the second one will.

One of TOTV favorite activities is jumping to conclusions.

And that's how I view all south of 44.

PugMom 05-01-2022 07:55 AM

let's wait and see what happens- i've got this feeling there are major improvements on the way for SS. whether people like them or not is a different story, but thinking it's on a deathbed doesn't seem realistic

That's pretty much what people felt about problems with sinkholes, until one of them destroyed two houses and blocked the road for a year - and the people who caused the sinkholes refused to pay for the repairs - thus putting the cost on the shoulders of the people who didn't care about the problems in the first place.

Or the problem with the layout at the putt-n-play or whatever it is down near Fenney - until all those people started parking in front of their lawns because of insufficient parking.

No one ever thinks anything is a problem - until it affects them personally. By then, it's too late. You should've cared about it when the subject was brought up. Or at least put a moment's thought into how it would play out if you ended up being affected by it.

We live in a beautiful bubble. But that bubble is thin, delicate, and can burst at any moment.

Right! Everyone definitely should have signed a petition against sink holes.
