Spectrum raises rates again

Spectrum found a way to chip into the $30. credit the Gov. gave us for internet, by raising there rates by $10. They just hate to see seniors get any type of break.

Stu from NYC 05-15-2022 02:27 PM

Why should they be any different than all the others raising rates at much as they can

JoMar 05-15-2022 02:45 PM

Business is Business. Charity is for non-profits. Spectrum (Charter) is a business.

Comcast will be next to raise their prices.

Isn't that what inflation does?

Yup got an increase for my internet service: $1.27/month extra. I'm crushed to the very core. Heart is broken. How will I be able to afford two drinks at the tiki hut now?

No one in the Villages is “poor”. Its disgusting when people complain about reasonable increases and use the excuse..” why do they do this to seniors”

Yep the seniors that eat out often, play golf, drive nice cars..

Boo hoo...cant afford it here...try another place

The first year we moved here we were absolutely poor. Living on 1 person's modest pension, neither of us old enough for social security yet, qualified for almost 100% subsidy for health care (we were $4000 too "rich" to qualify for medicaid), $50k in debt for the purchase of the house.

My car is a 2010 cheapo piece of tin that I bought...in 2010. Hubby's car is a 2015 that he bought in 2015 when he was still working. We eat a lot of take-out because I'm very good at playing the rewards program, coupon-saving, and survey-points-for-gift-cards game.

Even now that we have one social security check added, we can't afford a new car for me. Our golf carts were used - it was all covered by the "profit" from selling our house up north. We don't have lovely-padded 401K or IRA or investment accounts, but we are thankfully no longer wondering how to cover the cost of repairs on the house if something breaks.

We are living in a double-wide instead of a site-built, because we couldn't afford a site-built and remaining in our state up north was no longer an option.

We're living better down here than we were up north, for less. But when costs go up, we definitely feel it.

If you don't mind paying more for the same service/equipment you have now and getting nothing for it then add me to your list. You can send me $1.27 each month and I will give you nothing new in return . I might even say "thank you" which you aren't likely to get from your internet provider.

retiredguy123 05-16-2022 12:45 AM

Do the math. With an inflation rate of 8.3 percent, I would expect everything to go up by approximately that amount, some things more, some things less. So, a $100 Spectrum bill should increase to $108.30. Why blame Spectrum?

Rwirish 05-16-2022 05:01 AM

No true at all. Visit the historic side and you may form a different opinion.

Rwirish 05-16-2022 05:01 AM

What $30 credit the Governor gave us?

I think people on this site should be paying ME monthly for my excellent and priceless advice for all their problems. $1.27/month from everyone would be just fine. PM me for Zelle or Venmo info!:bigbow:
