Munn's AC/Heating

Anyone here deal with Munn's for repair or a system checkup on your heat pump heating/AC unit.

My system needs a annual tune up and I never dealt with them before.

Cheers!

Used them for 8 years. No issues. Long lead time for annual service this year

We have been using them for 5 years and they come out every 6 months on the service program. Have never had a problem with them and their tech's always know what they're doing.

We have been dealing with them for two years now and no problem. Wish we could have the same technician each time but they seem to have a lot of turnover.

Just have to schedule about 3 months out for PM.

Thanks for all your replies.

Yes they are busy, I called in April, and they gave my a date in July.

mixsonci 05-20-2022 12:42 AM

They sent me a notice to let me know that it was time for maintenance on my system, but when I called they said they had no openings until October. I called Sun Cool and they came out within 2 weeks.

Very good! 3 years with annual check ups!

They are too busy. Long lead times.

We use them and agree, they are prompt, reliable, and reasonable. Agree with the long lead times. But isn't that a positive? If they were a shoddy service you could probably get someone out in the afternoon if you called them in the morning.

I think they do have an "emergency" service also.

There were issues with their reminder system. First time in 8 years this happened

Michael G. 05-20-2022 09:16 AM

Is it good to have the system checked every 6 months or every year?

davem4616 05-20-2022 09:26 AM

used them for 5+ years...no issues with them

Been with them 15+ years. Every 6 months alternating heating - cooling.

I never have mine checked. I flush out the condensate drain line or add some vinegar every 3 months to prevent it from clogging. Change the filter every 3-6 months, depending on how dirty it is. I check the outside unit for dirt or debris near the coils. During a hot day in the summer, I will inspect the suction line (the pipe near the outside unit with black insulation) to see if it is cold and sweating. If it is, you know that the compressor is working. Occasionally, inspect the evaporator coil (the inside unit) for any dirt or rust. I don't think there is anything else that a technician can do to prevent your system from failing. But, if you are going to hire an HVAC company to do periodic maintenance, you still need to maintain the condensate drain more often than every 6 to 12 months. It is a common reason for an AC failure. Also, I would insist that the technician test the electronic float valve in the evaporator drain pan.

As far as every six months. We have the carrier system as I think many other do.
You change the filter every six months. It is very easy to do. I use the carrier filters. There is no shortage of generic filters some are a bit undersized.

We have the unit serviced once a year. The drain line. I pour warm water down it every month also easy. No problem with that either. Endless debate about that as well.
Some people use bleach, some vinegar, I was told not to. Doing that every six months, I think is pushing your luck.
