Covert an IRIS model from closed to open kitchen

We live in designer IRIS model home built in 2012 with a closed kitchen.
If anyone has converted their kitchen to an open concept, we would appreciate any thoughts you may be able to share about your experiences. Thank You.

The first thing i would do is go to the building department and get your exact house plans (about 16 pages). This will show if there are any load bearing walls. It will also show all of the wiring and NONE of the plumbing. These will also give you something to sketch out your ideas for discussion with the contractor. The other item is to make sure you can get matching tile (or other flooring) for this area in case your plans involve moving cabinets as well as walls.

We used Docs to cut down two walls (to save money) and add draws and cabinets to create a large island.
Looks great.

We have Doc's Restoration coming to make a proposal. Can you share pictures of your conversion, in particular the addition of an island.

Thank You

Thank You

Suggest you look long and hard at DR's reviews (not the ones they give you).

I have a designer with an open kitchen. The only thing is that the dish washer can be a little loud and also the refrigerator (to a lesser extent), which can be annoying when trying to watch tv.

Seems to me you need a new dishwasher. Newer dishwashers make no noise at all with all the insulation that keeps them so quiet. Our fridge is a GE Profile and is at least nine years old and it makes no noise at all with the exception of when the ice drops. Neither of those appliances are annoying in any way shape or form. They are non entities and we have an open kitchen to the living area.

Personal experience with them pre pandemic was not good. I’m sure they are better now:1rotfl::pray:
