There is some good information on this WaterWistom page.
We water twice per week per the irrigation schedule for our property. Most grass zones are 20 minutes and the shrub zones are 5 minutes. |
I used to water the grass for 20 minutes. I reduced it to 5 minutes, and my grass still looks fine.

I have CYV with rocks, done this few years ago and cut water consumption in half. I don’t water rocks with pop up spray nozzles I replaced them with dripper/ sprinklers. Now I just water the plant and not area rocks. I have zero runoff down the street. If interest go to do it yourself.

You might not like my suggestion but here it is. Replace your controller with a Rachio 3 controller, or one of the other "internet connected" controllers, and spend a little time setting it up. It will irrigate when required based on recent rain, temperature, wind, forecasted rain, soil type, scrubs vs. grass, etc. using nearby weather reporting stations. They are trivial to install - one wire per zone plus a common. Setting up is done via a smartphone app. While it will also accommodate a rain gauge, I don't bother with one as they seem to not last very long. The reported rainfall that the Rachio obtains via the internet from nearby reporting stations is reasonably accurate.

Yes, a WI-FI Controller is the way to go… I have a Rainbird 6 stage, and it sounds like you need some Drip heads.. 10-15 max per stage is perfect… keep your zone box clean Good luck

Time limits for shrubs and grass zones

a). Zoysia grass; and b) shrubs and flower zones? What schedule do you recommend during spring, fall and winter? Thanks for any advice! |
After the plants are established you may not need to water. Turn your system off and see how they do. We just started the rainy season so you will probably be ok. Watering is controlled as to the days of the week you can water etc by your water district.

I have 2 zones, water once a week in winter and twice a week in summer, about 12 minutes a zone. Covers grass and shrubs.
