Space launch this morning?
Does anyone know if there was a space launch this morning around 6:15 or so? I observed an aircraft of some sort that flew across the sky with a long flaming exhaust trailing behind it, very high in the East. It seemed to be moving in a Southern direction as it slowly gained altitude. I didn't see any launches scheduled this early when I searched the Internet this morning. It wasn't a vapor trail from a jet and it was flaming yellow behind it.
Just wondering if I did witness a rocket launch. |
I have app on my phone that gives me updated days and times of launch. I am not in the area so have it turned off. I do know there is a launch 6/8.
If there was a launch you can go to space launch web or it will be on the news. |

A launch of a Falcon 9 Nilesat 301 was scheduled for 5:04 this morning from Cape Canaveral.

June 10: A SpaceX Falcon 9 will launch the Nilesat 301 geostationary communications satellite from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Delayed from April. I'm thinking it was a jet with the con trail and some sort of distortion caused by the sunlight. Most launches go North, though the last one went South. |
I thought at first that it was a "con trail" from a jet, BUT it was seriously wavy/puffing a yellow flame look out the back. Thought maybe it was some kind of rocket test. I don't know much about this subject, but it was interesting. Seemed kind of a short exhaust for a "con trail" but like I said, not very knowledgeable on the subject.
