Foul Smell in House New Resident Possible AC Duct Issue

Gracious Good Afternoon To Everyone.
I purchased a resident in the Village of Duval. I had a new roof put in when the resident was purchased. I have been experiencing a funny order since its replacement. I was advised that the order could be from the new roof but it has been almost a full year since it was replaced and the order continues.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Are there any recommendations on how I can proceed to eliminate the odor? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I am reluctant to have guests at the house until I can resolve this issue.

Did you use a home inspector? Perhaps he/she could guide you.

snake in the attic/house.. they give off a very pungent musk odor especially this time of year.. It does go on all year and it is a very distinct odor..

OP, if you have a lawn service with insect protection, have them look around to see if there is something in the attic. I have never heard of new shingles giving off an odor for more than a couple of weeks at the most. Sorry I not not have any other ideas.

Possibly damaged/plugged sewer vent on roof?

Also check P traps. If the house was built 05 to 08 it could have Chinese drywall it had an smell that didn't go away.

Ok I will dumb this down a little bit. Run water in all your drains! Yes I mean all of them. There is a great invention called a P-trap under your sinks, showers and bathtubs. Water is retained in this little half circle piece of drain pipe. This keeps sewer gas from emanating into your house. See if that works. Run water for 30 seconds in each drain

Could be a disconnected ventilation pipe with mold.

If the plumbing vent got plugged then the bathroom sink, tub or shower , kitchen sink, laundry sink that is vented by that clogged pipe should drain slowly

OP, is it still stinky? It is common (when one starts a thread )to respond to posters and update the situation .

Ok so I messaged the OP requesting an update. Sorry but just DON’T LEAVE ME HANGING!

Stinky Smell

I would like to thank for all their informative information. I decided to get my vents ad AC ducts cleaned after someone suggested that the new roof smell should subside after a few weeks and not months. I am using a company called Covenant Enterprises which is owned by a gentleman named D. Harris. Several folks in the villages had recommended him with stellar reviews. Thanks Again.
