New Home- Lawn Chemicals Needed $?
 

Hi Folks,

First time posting. We are closing on a patio villa next week. We got some lawn care quotes from a few companies- yet to commit.

We were told by one company that we should add the chemical soil treatments to the lawn care because the lawns at the new homes are, "Sod with contractor grade soil that will degrade in a few months without chemical treatments"

So I'm asking for feedback from people who have/haven't had the chemical treatments on newly built homes if indeed the lawn will degrade without the treatments.

I'm also open to suggestions for lawn care companies- I read yesterday that some of the bigger ones seem to be slacking off due to labor issues.

I pay Massey $210 per year for lawn chemical treatments. I don't pay in advance, but only when they apply the chemicals. I don't know what they do, but I have never had a problem with my lawn.

Never heard of that one. Was it a company that sells lawn chemicals?

New build lawns are a crap shoot. We have had 3 new builds. One had a great lawn, and both neighbors had the worst lawns I have ever seen, 30 days of closing.

Our other two homes had the worst looking lawns, and neighbors had great lawns. Sod was laid within 5 days of each other, we all used Deans for lawn treatment, pest, mowing, along with irrigation. I have learned keeping a green lawn in Florida is sometimes just a wish

For pests in the Grass and around the house I use Bifenithrin. I fertilize my lawn in March and September with a fertilize/weed control product designed for St. Augustine. For my plants I use a 10-10-10 fertilizer with certain intervals of Miracle-Gro

We have used Dean's for over a year now with no complaints. We also use them for pest control. I have called them a few times when I noticed issues and they were here within one day.
