Missouri town bands together to block protest at soldiers funeral.

Hundreds of people in the town Weston Missouri banded together to prevent the despicable members of the Westboro Baptist Church from engaging in one of their unchristian protests at the funeral of fallen hero Sgt. First Class C.J. Sadell. When good people stand together evil can be defeated. God Bless the residents of Weston Missouri and God Bless Sgt. Sadell and his family

When some biker buddies we know announced Phelps' wife and WBC members would be demonstrating across from Hagerstown (Md) High School during morning arrival last month, we decided to answer their appeal for a counter demonstration across the street.

They had Portable PA's and accompanying music as they sang their songs repeatedly.

When we got there it was too late but the thing to do if anyone goes, is to encourage passing cars to sound horns, which some figured out after awhile.

A half dozen loud bikes passed by to drown the chants, to the cheers of the counter demonstrators, but unfortunately too few and too far between.

We signed up and joined this group after reading about them in the story the next day, when then WBC went to Arlington.

What was most interesting from that day?
We thought we'd never live to see the day when marching side by side, handshaking, chomping donuts together, hugging, and holding placards would we see.....
Decorated Vets, leathered bikers, inked/pierced/Goth Punkers, flower children, families from the city/burbs/farms, hipsters, dapper city officials, Law enforcement personnel, persons of color, and members of the LGBTQ communities.

Legally, they do have constitutional rights and the ACLU has some issues that side with their right to assemble. Note too, that many laws have fines for using car horns when not for warning or danger.
Seems like the police would listen the other way at such an event.

Unfortunately the Hagerstown, Arlington, and other WBC demonstrations across the country events are costing taxpayers huge sums in extra police presence.
