Ground covers

Anyone using Ground Covers other than rock or grass?

We were just discussing that might be nice to do away with mowing, resistant to weeds and uses less water. So, we save monthly on mowing (and the headaches of finding a good lawn care company) and save a little on irrigation water. Seems like a win win win.

Anyone know if it is even permitted by the ARC?

EDIT: And it has to be something easy/good for us and the dogs to walk on.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Ask the ARC for latest info, they usually reply pretty darn fast.

As for me, bought a courtyard villa and removed all the grass. I got $50 for my old mower from the landscaper and it was a great day! I don't miss it.
There are tons of good plants, go for low maintenance.

I can give you a list, but first see if that's where you're really headed.

Duh, thank you, why didn't I think of that!

OP, you can contact Master Gardener for a list of suitable ground cover. Be sure you get ARC approval for your project, and be aware that if your lawn is adjacent to your neighbor's lawn it may creep on to your neighbor's lawn. Metal edging (if allowed) might stop or slow this down.
