FLA roofing laws changed this week, to benefit the homeowner. Start here
What You Need to Know About Recent Changes to Florida Property Insurance Law Affecting Admitted and Surplus Lines Insurers | Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig LLP - JDSupra prohibits carriers from refusing to insure a home with a roof that is less than 15 years old solely because of the age of the roof. If the roof is at least 15 years old, and the carrier requires the replacement of the roof to issue or renew the policy, the homeowner can have a roof inspection paid for by the homeowner. The insurer is prohibited from refusing to issue a policy solely because of the age of the roof if the inspector determines that the roof has 5 or more years of useful life left. |

Don't even know if public adjusters even exist in FL but can't see why not. |

I'm asking for clarification because I went through AAA to get homeowners insurance in 2011 for our new house. It was/is with ASI which is now Progressive. My roof is the original. My renewal arrived yesterday and my premium increased 49%. Needless to say, I'm starting to shop around for a better premium for the same coverage. |

The whole bundle (car, golf cart, scooter, and homeowners will not be renewed, they didn’t cancel, just won’t renew. That’s how they get around the lobbyist written new law IMO. If the gave you quote evidently you’re meets the year limit? IMO for use that have 10 year or older roofs either have to pay to replace them or face the double, triple, or quadruple premium increases to even get insurance. I looked on my policy, all it says is south insurance agency. Let me know it find better insurance cause after I get my roof replaced I will be shopping around also. |
