Here comes the start of the summer wave of a different kind.....

COVID Guidelines: CDC Says Wear Masks in NYC Amid New Variant Threat – NBC New York

I am marking my calendar to measure long before it returns to FL?

Fear factor 2022 in time for a certain future event? (our third time cancelled cruise coming booked for November)

This is so much bs. The continued fear mongering...

NYC currently has more cases than when hospitals were overflowing and they shut down.

But rate of deaths and hospitalizations are "relatively" lower compared to then..

Likely due to Vaccines, natural immunity, improved ventilation, and sadly - previous deaths of the most susceptible.

New York is averaging 9,000+ daily BUT Florida is averaging 14,000+ why worry.

With self-testing, how many cases are being reported?

In Marion County, 1000 new cases each of the last two weeks, NOT counting home testing.

Good ? Bet cases reported are less than 50% of the actual. Big difference is that most new cases have very few symptons.

Florida, around here, is one of the highest outbreaks in the country.

The newer variants are weaker. And, obviously, the shots don't stop anyone from getting or spreading anything.. So, although everyone will likely get it at some point, the risk of death or serious illness has declined.

I’m so done with it all.

Exactly

And your risk of long COVID is lower too

Good point. Also the current variants are less likely to cause long COVID - only about 5% of former COVID patients get it now. So unless you have risk factors the predispose you for severe disease or long COVID, you can relax a bit.

Omicron Carries Half the Risk of Long COVID as Delta: Study

Still, the positivity rate in Florida is 17% now - so don’t go crazy ;)

Blah, blah, blah…it’s a cold. Funny that in the past 2 years no one died from the flu, pneumonia, cold, or any other upper respiratory infection. That’s what happens when you pay someone $30,000 to call it something else.
