Pair of bluebirds building a nest

Did you know - After a male Eastern Bluebird has attracted a female to his nest site (by carrying material in and out of the hole, perching, and fluttering his wings), the female does all the nest building.

Just goes to show you...if you want it done right, get the female to do it!

I had pair nest off my back porch for 15 years in same nesting box (rebuilt couple times) the male would fight off other males in his territory.

From Google:

Most Bluebirds (95%) mate for life and mated pairs can stay together for as long as they survive. In the event of the death or disappearance of the male or female, the remaining bird replaces it with a new mate.

That is a great picture, Ale, and I love watching bluebirds. There is a current YouTube with a camera attached to the interior of the nest of bluebirds in which 3 babies are being raised. I will put the link here but if that’s not permissible, moderator please remove.

I hope you can see this, it’s really cool even though some eggs did not hatch.
