Where to Stay in Key West?
Now that we’ve been here for over a year and are settled in it’s time to explore. The better half wants to take a drive down to Key West.
Where is your favorite place to stay? I’m looking for replies from people who have actually been there. |

IF you are prior military Navy Lodge is very reasonable compared to prevailing rates.

Casa Marina by Hilton. Away from the noise of duval street. Hyatt key west for sunsets and close to the tourist area
|
Depends upon your budget and what you want to do. Key West is like a lot of average size cities, but with a lot of varied culture. Personally do not like to stay in Key West and stay on other islands like Islamorada and Key Largo. Would not recomment going down there in the summer. Hot and muggy.

Opal Key Resort and Marina. Great location right near Mallory Square and Duval St
|
It has been 8 years since we last visited, but we enjoyed our stay at Currie Mansion. I think it was on Caroline, one block off Duval. We visited in March and the weather was perfect.

Depends................resort style or Air.
Resort: Casa Marina by Hilton. Air...........there are tons of good options. We stay about five blocks from the noise & lights. Looks for neighborhood food joints. |
Not sure where to stay but the best time is the summer. Hotter and less crowded.

Sunset Key. Great lodging and a first class restaurant. Must book in advance. Nice boat ride to the island. In December I’m staying at the NAS campground for a few days then a week at Bluewater Key RV resort. December is a nice time to visit with Xmas lights. I prefer an RV to hotels, but also, there are plenty air bnb’s there to consider.

Depends on budget. But definitely check out air bnb and ****. We stayed in an historic old house 1.5 blocks off duval street this summer. Had its own pool. It’s own porch with rocking chairs. It was gorgeous. Not cheap but totally worth the splurge. Walking distance to everything. There are plenty of other options to choose from like that instead of a hotel.

My husband and I live in Key West. You definitely want to stay in old town. The Duval Loop is a bus service that provides a no cost service throughout old town. It depends on your budget. Opal is a great choice, but is pricey. Along with hotels, there are many privately owned residence that rent.

Check with AAA to see if they still do there monthly trips there.
