Home landscaping vs. The Villages landscaping

Why do we have such high standards on us for keeping our landscaping at our homes BUT The Villages can let the weeds and grass be uncut to the point where bugs are bad around the paths and when carts come you can't walk in the grass away from the paths up by Nancy Lopez and Walnut Grove etc.

Overall i feel they do a good job. Tought to keep up with grass due to a lot of rain and vegetation grows like weeds this time of the year. Saw men planting new shrubs in and around Lake Sumter last week. Wife went down to Palm Beach County and happy to get back as TV does a good job of taking care of land.

I only wish that the golf courses(championship) start getting more attention. Weeds all over the place.

Must be something new, I have never seen the Village property not maintained.

Since it’s outsourced to more than one company, it could be it has just been missed. TOTV’s can’t fix the problem, the posters that give you the department to call, is priceless

If you're worried about some grass being overgrown, you have too much time on your hands. Nothing in life is perfect even TV. We live on the outskirts and we think central Florida is wonderful of course except for the high temperatures during the summer

An additional 25% increase to the CDD fee should help with the problem.

You do understand “The Villages” is us, the homeowners, right? If you want to pay high enough taxes and fees, the CDD could employ someone to walk right ahead of you, trim the grass, pull the weeds, and spray for bugs. Would you like a hike in your amenity fee to cover that?

Guessing the Sheldon sign should have been inserted. Otherwise post is little out there

They work on a schedule. Often their hedges need to be trimmed badly. When we call they sometimes come within a week, but they might say they could not do them due to weather & will have to wait for the next cycle.

Too often they are overgrown. Some of our neighbors get tired of waiting & just trim the Villages hedges themselves. Presently a lot of sprouts are 1 1/2 to 2 feet above the main hedge. Guess it depends which landscaping company is in charge of your area & how well staffed they are?

I do think many of their bush plantings are too close to the paths, especially the scrub palm varieties. Walkers, bicycles & carts can have difficulty passing each other. And yes, we always slow for folks we pass.

I don’t think so. It was a true statement.

I think it's beautiful here and very, very well maintained.

Some areas are kept more natural than others. Should have gone to the VHA meeting this past Monday evening, it was open to all Villager’s It was all about what they do and don’t do as far as grounds, ponds and trees. If you’re looking to complain go to www.district gov.org, then Departments, then District Property Management. There you find answers and contact information.

The part in Marion county doesn’t seem to be as well cared for as Sumter and south. Things have been allowed to become overgrown, thick or leggy, and need some severe pruning. Most of the areas look their age – 20+ years.
