No news on Water Lily Bridge Bomb Scare
 

The Water Lily Bridge was closed on Friday because of a bomb scare or suspicious package. I'm surprised that I haven't seen any discussion on this site or news on any other site.

It caused a great deal of inconvenience for a lot of people.

I needed to go to Publix to pick up a prescription and was turned back. I went home and got my car, picked up the prescription and was not allowed to enter Meggison on my way home. I explained to the guy blocking the road that I live about 200 yards from the end of Meggison and he still would let me through.

I'm surprised that with that kind of threat that the turnpike was never closed.

I never heard anything about it either!

We were blocked from the Brownwood bridge for the same reason.

Wonder if the story will make the Daily Sun tomorrow??

Considering this happened on Friday I’d say the odds are against it. lol

??? Unless there is a hero story to tell or it can somehow be blamed on one of the previous commissioners I doubt it. Less-than-cheery news is not often found in the Daily Sun.

I figure The Villages hating Villages dash News would have been all over it. Nothing so far.

Nothing in leesburg Sat paper or on their web site.

Yep. One of our neighbors works for Community Watch. Suspicious item on bridge. Shut everything down as a precaution. Not sure what it was but it wasn’t hazardous.

So, Community Watch took care of it, end of story.

No. Sheriff, Police and Fire Dept were definitely involved. But the Sheriffs Department didn’t send out any alerts so they obviously didn’t consider it a major event.

... or didn't want to attract a crowd or didn't want to encourage copy-catters or didn't want to frighten the residents or .....

Well they sent out an alert when there was a social media bomb threat at the high school so…. Who knows.

I saw a fire truck coming out of the end of Meggison but I was still not allowed to enter to get to my home. And I'm still wondering why the turnpike wasn't shut down.
