UV tinted window coverings

Has anyone put tinted window wrap on their windows to keep out UV and the intense sun glare (it is similiar to the tinted windows in cars). I would like to keep my blinds open, but the intense sun burning down on the furniture all day long will surely fade it. If u have done it, can u recommend a company, comment on price, and discuss whether the window covering does what it is advertised to do. Also, were u dissatisfied with any aspect of the job.

Can't really help you with a company here, but I can tell you that I had the film UV put on my windows in California. It really did protect the furniture and carpet (one wall was all glass for three stories). It also helped a little with cooling/heating costs.

I've used Lady Lake Glass (352/259-0812) a couple of times and they seem pretty knowledgeable with reasonable prices. If they don't do the tinting, I'm sure they can recommend someone who can.

I used IES on 441 (352-245-0833). I have an Amarillo and it cost $378 for storm door, windows and slider. This was back in 2003 so prices might have changed.

I did check with several other places since I did not realize that there were different tints and UV blocking factors.

I am very happy with the UV tint and would do it again if I ever move.

I also used IES

and was very happy with their work. Cost was around $1100 for the rear of the house, including glass enclosed lanai and master bedroom.

Call Vera at T&D, when we did our pool she recommended a company that tinted the windows facing the pool. I think the name was UnGlass.

Window Tinting

We had ours done by ALL PRO WINDOW TINTING. They're very knowledgeable, priced fair and do an excellelent job of installing. Found through comparison shopping, that window tinting can be over priced..
