Judge hits 61st homer

Judge hits his 61st homer in his 155th game. Did he break Ruth’s record?? In 1927, MLB only played 154 games.

So. Yes but it needs an asterisk.

As far as I am concerned he now is tied for American league home run record and hopefully breaks it soon

I am a big fan of Judge. He conducts himself with dignity and modesty which I find admirable. His abilities and dedication are unquestionable..

I hope he stays a Yankee. The money he seeks is astronomical, but so is everyone else in the major sports. If he succeeds, more power to him. How much money is enough? A question for the ages.

A question for the ages indeed.

Growing up in Minnesota my team was the Twins and one of my favorite ballplayers was Harmon Killebrew, who at the time (mid-1960's) was hitting homers very close to Ruth's AL record of 1 every 11.76 at-bats, and finished his career with the fifth most total homeruns in the AL. His high salary for any one year was I believe $100,000.00 which is about $915,000.00 today. Shows just how out-of-proportion major league salaries are today compared to times past.

I saw Mickey Mantle being interviewed in the late 1980s. He said that Roger Clemens would make more by the All Star Game that year than Mantle made in his entire career! He only made about $1.12 million in 18 years!!

He’s a class act and a great role model for the young players! Good to see a Clean player

The short answer is no, he tied Ruth with 60 homers as the season was 154 games. Judge had several more games but didn't get it done to my disappointment.

He will set the AL record when he hits 62 home runs in a 162 game schedule and passes Maris.

IMHO - This should be the record for 162 game schedule as Bonds, Maguire and Sosa were aided by PED,s

I am a Yankee fan of 70 years and a baseball; traditionalists. This record will be done cleanly and does not require an asterik.

The game has changed so much since my Dad took me to see “Stan the Man” (first 100k player) play that Traditional baseball as we know it is gone. I’m not saying it’s all bad but certainly it’s a different game now.

I can understand dislike but hate seems a bit too much dont you think?

From watching the games on tv, it appears mutual. The diehard Boston fans hate the New York sports teams and diehard New York fans hate the Boston teams. Casual fans don’t seem to have that intensity.

I do wonder when (and why) this happened. I don’t remember the profanity and cursing at MLB games when I was a kid.
