Dogs pooping on your lawn

We are currently renting a home in TV and are looking to buy at some point. One thing that we have noticed is folks walking by with their dogs and setting them up to poop on our lawn and then cleaning it up.
We are not dog haters and have recently lost our dog.
Why can't folks have the dog poop on their own lawn and then go for walk.
We had a poop place in our backyard for our dog to poop.
I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this.

pooping on your lawn

They do not want to ruin their lawns. There are a lot of inconsiderate pet owners that pick up their pet waste and throw the poop bags on the ground only to be washed into the storm drains that flow into the ponds.

I don't mind if dogs poop in my yard, as long as the owner cleans it up. I don't have a dog, but I don't think you can just command your dog to poop anywhere you want it to.

I once had a dog named "Stay". I would say "come here, Stay". But, that dog was impossible to train.

OOOH! We haven't had a good poop thread in weeks!

I also don't mind if the occasional dog out on a walk decides to take a dump on my lawn--as long as the owner picks up after the dog.

A big problem however is that a dog needing to take a dump will dump on a spot where he has done it before, even if his droppings are picked up by the owner. Had that problem before we moved here. Our neighbor's dog (a beautiful boxer) that ordinarily did her business faithfully in the neighbor's yard, one day strayed over into my yard and let fly. I scooped it up and dropped it back in the neighbor's yard, however the dog returned to that spot several more times. The only thing that got her to stop was a spray can of a particularly malodorous dog repellent which I sprayed liberally on the spot.

My neighbor takes his 2 dogs on his lawn and they do their business. The worst offenders are the sneaks who walk dogs behind the pools and rec centers and don't pick up afterwards.

Dogs are not the problem. It's the owners. Too many are irresponsible, disrespectful, self-centered, self-indulgent jerks, basically? There is absolutely no legitimate reason for their trespassing, but they do it anyway.

Pickup

We (my wife and I) always pick up, had one crazy neighbor came out one day and yelled, My husband is sick, keep your dog off my lawn, also one crazy lady would sit in her birdcage (corner house) and if anyone with a dog came by she would turn on the sprinklers zone by zone until you passed by. They both moved out of TV, the one with the sprinklers has a another long story that I won’t get into now.

It seems that most dog owners have not been "trained" on how to take care of their pets. Many have problems figuring out which food to feed the animals and when to feed them, let alone how to manage/control them. If these folks can't be taught to use turn signals and stop at stop signs in their golf carts, how can you expect them to do something complicated like caring for a dog? Yes, a dog can be trained to relieve itself in designated spots, but it seems that dogs train their owners rather than their owners training them. It would be interesting to find out how many of Villagers have owned pets before or are just now obtaining pets in their twilight years. Like dogs, their owners do not consider it disrespectful or inconsiderate to disregard boundaries.

Wish my dogs would poop on command. Alas they do not. But I always clean up after my dogs.
