If this doesn't deserve the death penalty I don't know what does.

The death penalty, as it exists today, costs the taxpayers more money than life imprisonment. Anyone who cares about government spending would be against the death penalty, if only for that reason alone.

At least one of those slain in the Parkland HS shooting has or had close relatives here in the Villages. In the case I know of these were grandparents of one of the girls. They moved around 2019 to be closer to their other kids and their grandkids. I did see the affects of this man's violence first hand in the grandparents and the pain they went through. Only knew slain child to see her playing her in the Villages during her 14 years of life. She would visit now and again with her parents and sibling(s).

Could anyone imagine being a juror on this case which lasted for 3 months and only dealt with the sentencing. He pled guilty on the charges. Big waste of time and money. Even if they ruled for the death penalty execution would take over 10 years. For me, would rather have been executed. He is in his mid 20's and his life expectancy is over 50 years.

I suspect this shooter will be 'a target' among fellow inmates...there is 'honor among thieves'...he committed a cowardly act. He very well may live in fear the rest of his days

BJS reports that 2019 was the nineteenth consecutive year in which the number of prisoners on the nation’s death row declined, down by more than a thousand since reaching a peak of 3,601 in 2000." I've long been of the opinion that every cell in every prison should come equipped with a curtained-off alcove area equipped with a rope and a strong crossbar. Any convict (not just death row inmates) wishing for an early exit could take it. Probably save Joe Taxpayer a bleepload of money.

Certainly someone is at work at the appeal process for this young man ,, the right to appeal is a very necessary part of justice,, or at least it would be if the convicted again stood in jeopardy of a death sentence, how many people would agree to a retrial due to the lack of an appropriate punishment, justice delayed is justice denied

The "punishment" hardly matches the crime!!!

The jurors have nothing invested in the loss of human life.

I am not an attorney but do feel that the state has very few, if any, avenues to appeal. if possible I would hope that it is shorter than a 3 month trial to determine the sentence. Probably was at least one juror who objected to this long trial and voted life imprisonment

As far as the death penalty is concerned, this is a done deal. He didn't get the death penalty, and he never will. Case closed.
