Favorite Burt Lancaster movie?

Burt Lancaster filmography - Wikipedia

My favorite Burt Lancaster movie would probably be Birdman from Alcatraz.

That's a good one. My Dad was stationed there at the barracks in the movie as a medic for the Wolfhounds. He was there just before the Korean War stopped.

I enjoyed that one. Very entertaining. As was his other movie from 1971-- Valdez is Coming. Valdez Is Coming - Rotten Tomatoes It is not political correct for 2022 but it is from 1971.

He made so many good movies in so many genres - as a pirate, westerns, film noir, drama. I guess I would go with From Here to Eternity.

1. JUDGMENT AT NUREMBURG: One of the best movies ever made in my opinion; not just because of Burt but because of the other cast members. His portrayal of Ernst Janning was nothing short of brilliant. You could really feel the emotion.

2. FIELD OF DREAMS. His portrayal of Dr. Archibald ("Moonlight") Graham, though the part was pretty small compared to the other parts in the movie, was great. My reason for liking it so much is sort of personal: what most people didn't know is that even though all the rest of the people in the movie were obviously fictitious, Dr. Graham was a real person who actually did practice medicine in Chisholm, Minnesota--less than an hour from where I was born and raised. A lot of the personal stuff presented in the movie regarding his philanthropy, the esteem in which the townspeople held for him, was accurate as well.

I love them all - especially Vera Cruz

LaneyBeckler 11-03-2022 07:49 AM

Loved them all, and also "The Rainmaker" 1956!

PugMom 11-03-2022 08:11 AM

wow--this is a tough one. 1st choice is Night of the Hunter, then Rainmaker, Elmer Gantry & Atlantic City. :boom::ho:
