Was it something I said?

Twice (to my knowledge) threads have been closed following a comment I made. Is it something I said? My bad. Sorry.

Not sure, but Apologizing here may only start a thread about Depression in The Villages!
Keep voicing your opinion, it opens closed minds..

If you did not get an explanation, or acknowledgement of some transgression from a moderator, then it likely wasn't anything YOU said, but, more likely, just the general direction that the thread had taken.
It happens a lot.
For example, the thread asking for witnesses to an accident turned into a discussion of changing traffic laws, and changing requirements for how aging people should be licensed.
After a while the mods just close such threads down because the conversation has lost its way from the original subject.

Your posts probably didn't violate any rules of the forum, but just happened to be the last one on a wayward tack.

Thanks to both of you for commenting. I read the entire thread just this morning and the next thing I knew, right after I made that last comment, the thread was closed. I still think it might have been what I said. :(

I doubt it. More than likely, the thread had run its course.

Was there a comment by the thought police at the end of the thread as to why the thread was being taken down? They'll usually do that. Unless you get a specific message it probably wasn't anything you posted. Look at the very top of this page just under the green topic headings. You should see something like "private messages; unread __, total __. If the number in the "unread" line has anything but a zero in it it means you have a message.

Not the first time.
Not the last time.

Maybe you made the comment at "shift" change.

Never say you're sorry for doing something that you believe is not wrong. Someone somewhere will always find a reason to be offended.

Well. At least you get to have the last word.
Something I have never achieved with my wife! :ohdear:

You made me look. Here’s what could have happened……

I assume you mean the thread about the homeless in TV.

The topic of the homeless is impossible for a group to discuss without some bringing their personal, religious beliefs into the conversation.

Religion has been in 2 or 3 TOTV threads lately and those threads have moved along OK — mostly— although I could see they would eventually hit thin ice.

Your last post in that thread took a direct hit on one of the posters who expressed Christianity as the basis for his personal response to the topic — as had others.

You have been making your thoughts on religion clear — and that is your prerogative. But I think that last post of yours came off like, “ Shut the hell up” — even though you did not word it like that, you quoted a poster who maybe got on your last nerve……..

Posting in disagreement can be like walking a tightrope, trying to address the opinion without taking a direct hit on the poster.

Also, the moderator might have grown weary of monitoring what could have turned into an all out religious war and you just happened to fire the last shot in a battle.

It seems the thread was closed but not "disappeared" which is a good thing.

In the past threads have been both closed and disappeared after my posts several times.

My thought is the topic had been thoroughly discussed, had run its course, and the discussion was running on ad nauseam.

No need to apologize, Coffeebean.

Maybe we can form a club for people who write posts that irritate others.
