Push-button bathroom sink drain stuck closed

I was able to twist off the stuck stopper. But I expected to find a cartridge to twist off and clean. Instead, I found a mechanism that I don't recognize and don't know what to do with it.
Anyone recognize this?

Look at the faucet and see if the there is a manufacturer's name (ours are Delta), then go to the manufacturers website or call and see if they can identify and supply parts. You can also try ACE on Wedgewood as they have a lot of parts for village houses. BTY, I have received a lot of help from Delta, including parts for our faucets.

Mike Scott plumbing just replaced one for us under warranty.

If you don’t see name at base of faucet, call warranty dept. 1 (352) 753-6222 and they can tell you. If can’t get fixed under warranty, then YouTube how to do it.

Those get clogged up so easily (especially with beard trimmings I found). I personally took ours out and use a removable drain plug when needed.

Maybe look at 1 of your other bathroom sinks to see what it should look like
