Dog Swimming
 

Good morning

This may have been asked already, but after a diligent search I have found no answer----> I am thinking seriously about getting a small puppy for comfort and company. The ones I am considering love to swim, therefore my question: Is there a swimming hole in the villages where my new pup can play but not get eaten by a gator? I suppose swimming pools are not possible alternatives (I don't think I would want to swim in a pool where a dog had played).

There is not a place for a dog to swim in The Villages. We have a pool in our back yard that the dog can use. He never goes in.

Many years ago when I raced greyhounds, I used to swim dogs recovering from muscle injuries at a nearby equine pool in a local racing stables.
Many stables have a pool, and if you ask nicely, they may allow your dog to swim there.
Just a thought.

A large dog park in Inverness, Bark Central, has a pond for dogs.

Never been there but Doggie Doo Run Run customers I have talked to have been there on occasion.

Doggie Doo Run Run has two small pools. One of the small dog section and one way in the back in the 5 acre exercise area.

Not all dogs like water. Ours is part Water Spaniel and part Australian Labrador came equipped with webbed toes ready to swim and he hates water. If he didn't I sure would not let him in a communal pond, a running stream would be ok but not a pond.

The ponds in the villages are comprised of mostly unfiltered (by the earth) runoff and wouldn't be a good place for a dog to swim, gators or not. We would never let our little poodle "Labrecque" swim here. There are good lakes in the vicinity with clean, refreshing water for your new friend. Good luck!!!
