Argentina being clinical with its passing and ball control

Best final ever!

Taltarzac725 12-18-2022 01:17 PM

That was very exciting.

Odd sport. I get it and many respects not.

Why in a Final can it come down to penalty kicks? Logic would dictate PLAY to the final end after Regular Time runs out. Sudden Death. Have it come down to a goal winner no matter how much time. Especially in the Final.

I get it but not really. Odd sport.

That was fun to watch.

France outclassed in first half, then the game exploded.
Very exciting.
Of course I am not biased, but that was best final since 1966 when England won it!

Golden goal sudden death is an option, but not a lot of people like / prefer that option. The players don't like it either. But my question is, why can't you accept that's how the sport and tournament is played?

There are many ways different sports solve ties, there is not an only way for all sports.

The Duke must be rolling in his grave!

I'd rather watch paint dry than watch those panty-waists rolling on the ground with fake injuries- only to be good as new 2 minutes later.

What color are you going to paint your house?

These guys are young but, you sprint for 90+ minutes (sometimes without a goal being made) then continue for an addition 30 minutes (2 x 15 minutes) and it is still a tie, then continue for possibly infinity. These have been the shoot out rules since 1970 and after 12 years of consideration, FIFA instituted it to the world cup.
Personal Prejudices showing... Soccer is NOT football and it's nice to know that the game won't last 4 hours or more.

Played both Football and as it is called here Soccer. Futbol is a tough sport. Have to be in excellent condition. Football gets to rest after every play. Also try rugby constantly moving.

Happy for Argentina

Way to go Messi and all the team! Exciting final.

Loved all the action and enjoyed the game. Soccer players are not sprinting the entire time. Sometimes they trot and sometimes they walk but do need to be in excellent shape.

Unfortunately a lot of these guys are actors in their spare time, falling down hurt, need to come off on a stretcher and a little later raring to go.

As you know, my son's brother in law is the national team goalie for the WC. He was telling me that in one of the frigid qualifying games, either Mexico or Canada, the opposing goalie actually got hyperthermia. Soccer should NOT be played in the snow and below freezing. Heading the ball becomes a concussion due to loss of elasticity in the ball. So not just that there is very little protection in soccer, so many collisions hurt and easily result in injury.

If you watched some of the fouls, when someone steps on your foot with hard plastic cleats or steps on your achilles, it hurts, and I have had a broken bones in my foot and a dislocated toe from other people's boots/cleats kicking me or stepping on my achilles. I assume that would you as well, as they are human as well. I was standing next to someone on the soccer field when their achilles broke. Very loud snap.. . surgery required the next day. . .

So some of them are acting to influence the ref, but most of the contact actually hurts a lot.
