Advice to purchasers of new construction.
Get a home inspection.
We recently closed on a veranda in Richmond. We spotted many of the defects, like the water spurting out of the dishwasher hose, but we might not have noticed the scratch on the lanai door glass until it was too late to get it replaced. And who would have thought there would be areas in the attic with little to no insulation? |
Inspect granite or quartz countertops, and porcelain plumbing fixtures, very carefully for cracks and chips. Run your finger across every countertop edge, top and bottom. Also, use a flashlight to shine it parallel to walls to check for large dips and bows. Use the flashlight to inspect every part of the ceilings for roof leaks. Walk on every part of the floor to check for loose tiles and planks. Just a few things I would check. There is an electronic device that will check for missing ceiling insulation from below the ceiling, but I don't know where you can get one, except from a home inspector.

We had the ability to be at our house everyday. Taking pics of issues as they happened. Makes items easier to fix, but not everyone has that ability
