Laptop stuck in loop

Had to do a hard shut down and when I went to restart the laptop it now appears to be in a loop that won’t quit an get me to the desktop! Any suggestions to resolve?

Restart and hold down the f4 or f5 key to boot into safe mode.

If that doesn't work, unplug and remove the battery, if possible. If not, unplug and wait for the battery to drain.

This may work. Press control, alt and delete at the same time. Then you can end task. Hope this works. Also check all the keys and make sure one isn’t stuck in the down position. Just a guess. Good luck and merry Christmas.

It’s a boot loop, so they’re not in Windows to CNTRL ALT DEL because it’s not loading to the desktop.

Boot to recovery environment and go to Troubleshoot-> Advanced -> Startup Repair. Run that and see if that fixes it.

I second this recommendation. Remove the battery, if possible; otherwise, unplug and let the battery run out.

another possibility is putting in the recovery disks and booting.

follow these directions from microsoft

Hold power button down to turn off. When you turn it back on wait a few seconds and press power off again. The third time it should boot into recovery mode. May take a while for the last boot to fully load as it attempts to repair the issue. Had this happen a month ago

I was just going to suggest the same. You let the computer boot about 50% of the way and then turn off. Do this three (maybe 4 ) times and the computer goes into a recover mode.

It is definitely the battery. Rip it out. It it back and if that doesn’t work I’ll eat the computer. Lol. Good Luck.

How Do I Make Windows Boot Straight to Desktop?
Press the Windows and R keys to open a new Run window.
Type netplwiz and hit Enter.
Clear the checkbox that says Users must enter a username and password to use this computer.
Hit Apply, confirm your password, and hit OK.

If it won’t boot, then they can’t do anything you wrote.

What did they say when you took it to a computer store?? Or did you!!

Like many posters on TOTV, the OP is trying to get some free advice, something most computer stores won't provide.
