I have only seen a few of these. Maybe 8 out of the 100.

The only one I saw was Top Gun Maverick, but I fell asleep halfway through it. Fortunately, I was in my recliner. I was talked into paying 20 bucks to rent it, totally against my financial principles.

Two is all we saw. Most of the so called top movies never made it to any theater for which we have easy access. “Where the crawdads sing” Brief look didn’t see it?

I enjoyed The Woman King, Prey, Barbarian and The Banshees of Inisherin.

Loved Top Gun: Maverick .

Only watched the first twenty minutes of a few of the others.

Hmmmmm.

Beavis and Butthead do the Universe rated two spots OVER Top Gun: Maverick???

Rotten Tomatoes over the last decade or so has shown a progressive tendency to rate movies according to what they think the readers should be thinking, as opposed to what the raters might think privately about the movie(s) in question.

I would have to see their methodology on how the audience votes are counted.

I watched the "Banshees". I wrote a little note to myself about it.......TOO GOOD. It was definitely good. But, it was almost too good. It was sad and tense. It sort of twisted my brain !

I used to think this just applied to the critics ratings, then RT deleted my account for no reason (I just gave star scores not written reviews). I later discovered that a large number of people who gave the wrong ratings to the wrong films had their accounts deleted as well.

One 2022 movie that really like would probably be considered a sleeper. It was, "After Yang" which starred Colin Ferrell. It got ONLY 3.5 out of 5 from the pro reviewers. Some said that it was slow and too long. If I like a movie, it could be 4 hours long and I would still like it. I watch a lot of sci/fi movies and "After Yang" was unique because it had very few special effects. It put the audience in a NEAR future and gave them a relatively ordinary plot line, which ADDED to the realism and made the audience feel as if they were actually in that future. It is a peaceful future with few temper outbursts or violence. It is more like today than any other sci/fi movie.
........"After Yang" is a little bit like the Prime series "Peripheral", but with even fewer special effects.

"Avenue 5" is a HBO series, not a movie and it came out in 2020. Nevertheless, it is a sci/fi comedy that I would give about a B-. It is mostly "cutesy", but has some good scenes. It is interesting that this show portrays a future where IQs have dropped for ALL the people. They barely can get out of each other's way.

Keefelane66 01-03-2023 07:16 PM

I liked the movie, "Dive", which is about Mexican women training for the Olympics. It gets a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 100%. It has an excellent plot with good actors and direction. Some may be turned off by the subtitles, but If not, then you will get rewarded with a great movie.
