Sumter commissioners agree to framework to extend VPSD funding

A countywide fire assessment fee will still be collected. A study approved by commissioners last year will explore possible adjustments to that fee. Arnold said the desire is to keep a flat residential rate per parcel, but move to a tiered rate for commercial properties based on square footage.

Since the developers didn’t get their IFD, this is their new way to lower their taxes and raise them for homeowners.

As they build tons of apartments around all of us that will pay no taxes for this.

They are building apartments all around us that will be paying no taxes for this and as that feature grows so will our tax bills.

The Brownwood apartment complex paid property taxes of $349,455.88 to the Sumter County Tax Collector last year. If property taxes increase, they will increase the rent paid by the occupants to cover the increase.
