Bacall

Played Bacall yesterday and just wanted to post the horrible conditions on this course. The fairways have so many areas with no grass, the ground is like cement and the weeds on the greens and fairways are everywhere. Why aren’t they taking care of this course? It should be shut down.

At least you can retrieve your ball from hole # 9 when you slice it.

Depends on how bad you slice it.

Played there today and didn't find it that bad. The greens were decent (and fast) fairway were not in that bad of shape for this time of year.

It concerns me that they continually want to add more courses and holes in The Villages but can't maintain the ones that they currently have. Some of these courses are in horrible shape!

It would help make all the courses better IF the golfers filled their fairway and rough devotes, & raked the bunkers so they are left better than the when they arrived, & repaired ball marks on the greens & stayed on cart paths on par 3s and observed 90* on off on 4s & 5s. That would allow maintenance personnel to spend time on weeds & growth instead of “picking up” for lazy golfers.

Yes, I was walking down Canal St. along the 9th hole one day , and almost got hit with a ball that was on it's way across the street, that ended up on somebody's lawn.

I play lots of executive north of 466 and find them in great conditions especially the 4 at the Lopez course. Amberwood and Oakleigh are in top condition. Briarwood and Walnut Grove are very good as well. Even El Diablo, Saddlebrook and Hawkes Bay are very good and they get lots of play. I played Heron and Pelican and a few weeks ago and greens were terrible but Red Fox down south was also top notch.

Most of the greens that are in poor conditions seem to have suffered from the extreme cold in December and early January but I am just speculating. So why are some courses excellent and some pitiful??? I have heard the executive courses are maintained by the championship staff. Do all courses run as an independent entity?

Sliced my drive there a few days ago. It was sitting pretty on the bank right next to the water. I got out my trusty 8-foot ball retriever. I almost got swallowed by the mud. It came up to my knees and I started to think I wouldn't be able to take another step but just continue to sink down further.
Eventually I was able to waddle out (with my ball).
Golf shoes were pretty muddy.

I thought the condition of the course was tolerable.

They've had hoses and large pumping equipment working on the pond for weeks. I'm sure it's not to shift water from one pond to the next. New sinkhole next to #8 green. Anybody know what's going on with that pond?
