Painting Frequency Question

When should I paint my interior house that was built in 2015 (The Villages)? The paint still looks clean. Is it okay to wait another two years before painting? Thanks.

Too much interior paint will reduce your square footage …makes it feel like the walls are closing in .

Yes, it is OK.

Reminds me of a guy I knew who sold carpeting. He said he had a lady customer who asked him how long the carpet would last. He told her that it will last forever, if you don't walk on it.

I do not know of any requirement to repaint INTERIOR walls, interior paint tends to last a long time. EXTERIOR walls typically need to be repainted after 7 to 10 years, especially the original paint, due to weathering and fading. So IMHO, yes you can wait another 2 years to paint your interior walls.

10 years would be average

gatorbill1 02-02-2023 09:28 AM

10 years should be average, depending how much damage the kids do to the walls

When it gets dirty or when you get tired of the color.

Since dried latex paint is about .002 inches thick, please tell us how much smaller a 15' x 20' room will be.

15+15+20+20 = 70 linear feet
0.002 inches/12 = 0.0000167 feet
0.0000167 feet x 70 feet = 0.001169 square feet smaller

As long as it looks nice, it's good.

Even though I gave you a thumbs up for your response, I'd like to remind people that cleaning marks off a wall often works!
