Unique Action Based Activities?

A few friends from outside TV asked me about non-typical retirement life activities available in our community.

I've only been here for 3 years so my list may be a bit short. I came up with softball, beach volleyball, dragon boats and pickleball.

Are there other active based non-traditional activities going on within TV?

Exclude...golf, bowling, social clubs, cards, board games, shuffleboard etc.

Two Bills 02-11-2023 05:15 AM

Golf cart racing.
Beer bottle throwing on MMP's.
Roundabout mayhem.
Infringement reporting. (Little old ladies only)
Bad parking competitions.
Seat reserving races at squares.
Cougar hunting.

Softball, soccer, and consider the league water polo, as a very competitive sport.

While I can't disagree with the facts...you know the rest!

Not sure what you mean by "non-typical". But for me thats mountain biking and riding motocross.
Santos trailhead is about 35 min away. Great mtb trails and a 17 mile paved trail that has a land bridge over I-75. You can also hike there.

Very fun but that may be too non-typical. lol

The Village Nomads is a motorcycling club here in TV. I believe there are two; one for Harley owners and one open to all.

If you're into shooting, try The Villages Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays club. Other shooting competition information for Villagers and surrounding communities can no doubt be obtained at Shooter World here in TV: state-of-the-art indoor range and shooting supplies. A bit pricy, though.

Diving? Try The Villages Scuba Club.

Like water skiing? Try Walk on Water (TV water skiing club).

Martial arts? Try Karate for Life Club here in TV, which I believe teaches Okinawan (Shorin Ryu) karate, though they may teach other stuff as well.

Good with a blade? Try The Villages Fencing Club.

I found these in about three minutes. There are probably a lot more. Just do a Google search on your favorite hobbies with clubs here in TV.

Depends what interests you. I always point to the huge list of clubs. There’s literally something for everyone.

Most wonderful - thanks for that. Yes, I will hit the Rec guide and club page.

Thank you. That's you doing it - I will be checking soon - but is there a club devoted to both activities?

Not sure about clubs.
We are in and out at TV since we don't retire until Sept. I plan on doing a bunch of riding when we start snowbirding in Oct.
Hopefully there's a few adrenaline junkies like myself there I can get together with. lol

A few we tried recently and never heard of before are Chair Volleyball and Cardio Drumming. Both were easy to learn and lots of fun!

La lamy 02-12-2023 06:14 AM

I found harmonica classes to be unique, as well as miniature boat races. Archery and drum aerobics is also kind of unusual for a senior community.
