PC set up

I am having trouble getting my new PC properly set up. For example, on initial set up of Windows 10, it asked me to create an alias, so I did. Now I cannot access my e-mail using my current e-mail address.
Also, how do I transfer web site favorites from my old computer to my new one.
I know these issues can be resolved but I just cannot figure it out.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

First of all, if you have a new PC, why aren't you using Windows 11? If you can upgrade to Windows 11, that is the first thing you should do.

I don't understand the email issue. You should be able to access email on a website. It shouldn't have anything to do with Windows.

I would suggest setting up the website favorites manually instead of trying to do an automatic transfer.

I suggest you convert it to Linux.

I use Firefox as my browser, which seems very stable. As suggested above, best to add all of your favorites manually (there are probably some you no longer use, and good to have a clear out occasionally). Next time you reinstall/upgrade, Firefox will automatically bring in all of your favorites.

I always find e-mails the hardest thing to set up on a new computer as there are so many variables. I switched to Thunderbird and that found my ISP automatically. Importing old e-mails was easy too.

As for Windows insisting on setting up numerous "operators" when I'm the only one using the computer! Ridiculous, but it's been like that for years. Try running things as Administrator and see if that resolves your issues.

You just need someone to come out and help you get it set up in person.

The bookmarks (favorites) transfer is an easy fix. The description of the email issue is too vague to tell you what’s wrong.

The poster can't even figure out how to get her email with Windows & you're suggesting she change to a mongrel system like Linux, that's used by less than 3% of the computer users in the world?

That's ridiculous.

Youtube can be a great resource for “how to do it” Search you tube for “how to transfer windows favorites” or “how to set up windows email”. You will find lots of videos. Spend some time viewing different videos until you find one you are comfortable with.

There are “how to” videos there on every subject. I use this all the time
