What about heat
Being that we are part timers and the last time down ran the AC, when should we turn on the heat ?? When we left, I set the thermostat to 82 Degs
for the AC, but didn't think it would get cold so soon. I thought we would be back long before that, but I guess not . We have friends looking after the house and will change from AC to Heat, but where should the thermostat be set since we are not there. I was thinking 45 Degs !!! Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. |
We leave ours at 55 degrees.

Tommy - You might give some thought to replacing your thermostat with a programmable one that has settings for "Heat", "A/C", and "Auto". The Auto function will automatically switch between the Heat and A/C temp settings as necessary.

50-55, but 55 is best. You don't want pipes to freeze. If you live in a manufactured home with old pipes, have someone turn on the kitchen faucet to a very slow drip overnight -- it can save you a small fortune in burst pipes (and has happened more than once).

With this unit set to those temps the AC/Heat unit does not come on as often, but only when the humidity reaches a certain point in the house. The humidistat keeps the humidity out of the air and comes on as needed. |
