A “not really Blue” Great Blue Heron
 

Not sure why they call them “Great Blue Heron” ….it’s more Grey to me.

I can however relate to the “Great” part as they have upwards of a 6’ wing span and are a pretty ferocious predator….have you ever seen one devour a snake whole, head first? It’s pretty impressive.
Not something I’d want to do or be on the receiving end.

Anyway, saw this guy at Mallory Hill yesterday. I loved the way he spread his wings, pretty impressive.
