Flea and tick medication
 
Coming from Colorado, I never gave my dogs flea and tick meds, they didn't need them.. I have read some scary side effects from them.. How bad are the fleas and ticks and what do you use? Also any good vet recommendations?

Vet - Dr. Leah Girard at Oxford Animal Clinic. Call as soon as possible to get an appointment. New client appointments can be a couple months out.

We use Heartgard (monthly) and Bravecto (quarterly). Been using Heartgard for over 20 years. Added Bravecto to the mix 5 or 6 years ago.

And be sure your dog has been vaccinated for Lyme's disease. The deer tick that carries Lymes is very common in Florida.

Hookworm is also a problem in Florida your dog will need to be medicated to prevent.
