Wildwood Police were out ticketing Golf Carts on Friday

Wildwood Police were out Friday in the Sawgrass areas giving out tickets for golf cart violations. I got a bit concerned as I just cut that silly Do Not Remove tag from my mattress. Meggison has its fair share of speed traps as well.

Be safe out there

So the police were doing their job, then?

do you know what violations they were citing?

Speeding?
Crossing the white line to pass?

You just got someone in trouble for doing their job.....

The Wildwood Police Department’s new golf cart is officially on “patrol.”

Officer David Perry of the police department said the golf cart will strictly be used for community outreach and offers a way in which to “engage with the public.”

Villagers are likely to see the new golf cart in use south of State Road 44 and in the Brownwood area.

However, he said the golf cart will not be used to catch speeders or for other more-traditional law enforcement purposes.

“We’ve really had a good reaction to to the new golf cart,” Perry said.

Yes, by all means. Forget about shootings, armed robbery, assaults and the like-----let's go find golf carts going 20.1 mph.

I'm fairly sure that golf cart scofflaws present a bigger danger to rank-and-file Villagers than any danger they may be in from shootings, armed robberies and assaults.

Let's not get too excited here folks.

Not sure this one photo supports your claim…..did you interview anyone to see what was up? Perhaps they were drinking and driving in the golf cart? If you were a police officer, would you look the other way towards that offense?

I for one would welcome some enforcement on the golf cart paths. Too often I see people drinking and driving, running stop signs and just being too daring in the operation of golf carts.

I don't know about the cart path, but on the roads they get them for an unregistered vehicle.

They could bring in a small daily fortune if they just wanted to go after speeding (aka unregistered motor vehicle) golf carts on the main roads.
