Medical Pedicures

A friend was asking where they could obtain a medical pedicure. Yes, there's such a thing. Thought I could help them by asking here. Also please don't offer salons that you love for a regular one. THAT isn't helpful!! So many questions here asked get WAYYY off topic. TY

Thank you for responding BUT a podiatrist isn't what they're looking for. I KNOW there is such a person as a medical pedicurist as my friend has had that in the past. They're just not familiar with them here.

I always thought a medical pedicurist was a podiatrist.
My bad.

Have your friend ask their doctor for a referral, or an opinion on where or who they would use. I have no idea of the requirements for this type of work, so I will not provide any recommendations.

for 450 US dollars you too can become a fully certified medical nail technician

Enroll in Medical Nail Technician Program

First you do an online course then an entire one week office experience.
Quote:

After completing the online MNT Program and passing the exams, the technician experiences a five day/40 hour Internship under the direction of a Podiatrist or other physician to learn the practical skills needed for working in a medical office. If needed, Medinail Learning Center aids the technician in in finding a Podiatrist who will provide this training.
of course YMMV

They work in a Podiatrist's office, under the direction of a Podiatrist. Much like a Physician's Assistant working under the direction of an MD...

For a brief time I used to get it done by a podiatrist here under Medicare. I don't think he liked doing it and his practice stopped altogether, finally. But I abandoned him first. It was such a poor shaping job, it drove me to using a regular nail salon.

Podiatrists are more concerned with function... not fashion...

Strange that you would write that as the website offering the training is very clear that their trainees have the option of using their intensive one week of training in a podiatrist's office or not requiring the supervision of a podiatrist.

Quote:

You will discover that podiatrists need Medical Nail Technicians™ in their offices. They appreciate this trained MNT’s skills while their patients appreciate their comfort care and services. Other technicians do not want to work in a physician’s office but want the knowledge this level of information provides concerning their clients and the respect it provides in marketing for referrals
