Has anyone had experience with contractors who perform drainage type work?(putting french drains etc.?)

Drainage work is usually done by landscapers. I would call Choice Maintenance for a quote. Make sure you know where your utilities are located before digging.

If you are in a new home, contact home warranty and see if they will correct the problem. Be careful with drainage changes as these mat affect the neighboring property. Also, years ago when my neighbor and I were discussing a common alteration to the swale between our properties we were told under NO circumstances could we make changes to this area by ARC, so before you proceed check with ARC also.
