Considering purchasing home in TV, therefore need house/car insurance.

Hello! After 23 incredibly great years in Las Vegas, thinking of moving to TV. I just called AARP/Hartford which I presently have, and they don’t provide home insurance in Florida!
My question? I would like to bundle my home, car, golf cart insurance w/a Florida company! I would like to get quotes from 3 reputable Insurance companies. Which companies should I contact?
Appreciate your input!!

I have allstate bundle 352-259-3825 be sure you get a policy with total sinkhole protection

State Farm, Allstate, and The Villages Insurance. The Villages Insurance represents several companies. I would not make bundling a requirement. You may get better rates by not bundling.

Progressive will bundle, very reasonable rates, IMHO.

Note that both Allstate and State Farm have local offices, and they offer auto insurance with up to $1 million in liability coverage, with no need for an umbrella policy. Not true for many other insurance companies.

What if someone falls at your home and gets hurt? Eats bad food at the potluck in your driveway? Your dog bites someone? Your auto liability will not cover those things.

Also, the umbrella liability coverage pays for the lawyers who will defend you.

No matter what insurance company you go with....prepare for the shock of your life....insurance rates are high here.

I understand. But I have substantial liability coverage on my homeowner's policy as well as my auto policy. Personally, I consider the liability coverage more important on the auto policy than on the homeowner's policy. An umbrella policy is always an option, but it is more expensive than having separate coverages. I am not certain you can get an umbrella policy unless you have home and auto coverage with the same company? I have found that bundling home and auto insurance to be cumbersome, especially when they raise your premiums and you need to switch companies.

There are a number of insurance companies around The Vilages that are essentially brokers, and not tied to any one specific company. Google it and you'll have a list. Contact them and they'll do a search for you. Don't let anyone put you into the general Florida insurance pool (Citizens Property Insurance). It's a State insurance pool that is not a good deal.

Chubb Insurance.

They have the best paper in the industry.

The paper (policy coverage) is more important than premium price.

The good news.................Chubb is very competitive.......not the cheapest, but competitive.

If you want best price, everyone advertises "save $400".

Primary residence umbrella coverage follows you everywhere.
Secondary with no car, on premise liability umbrella coverage

In MA with car, we have $3M umbrella, and FL, no auto, we have $2M maximum . . there is some limiting factor. . as I could not get higher than $2M. .

Homeowner insurance in FL is in a crisis. Last year 15 carriers went out of business. One already went out this year. I’m an Allstate Agent living in The Villages working remote. As of 3/10/23 Allstate is no longer writing any property insurance.

We have several Allstate partners I can provide a quote from. We can provide auto, golf cart and umbrella quotes through Allstate. Please call 954-437-9220 ext. 308 or email hrichardson4@allstate.com and I’ll be happy to provide quotes. I’ve helped many neighbors save money but most importantly obtain the coverage they need. I have 25 years of experience.

Thank you,
Holly Richardson

True, just be sure your home title is in your name, or the same name as the insurance policy. If the home is in a trust, you and the trust must be listed as an insured, or additional insured. It's a simple process, just notify your agent.

We are closing the first week of July and were in a similar situation. We contacted The Villages Insurance as we were told they would shop around for the best deal. They submitted 2 quotes to me, one with sinkhole and one without sinkhole coverage. I also shopped around locally and decided on State Farm which was not in the quote The Villages Insurance sent me. State Farm's price was between the two that TVI sent me for the exact same coverage.
